Edited by: Joshua Calvert on 19/08/2003 19:55:45 This happened to Said Zerrouki of RONA Corporation when I was a member of that corp.
CCP didn't replace his ship.
Same character, same trick.

Quote: one thing to do before you start shooting is to look at the targets icon on the screen
Do you check Info on every 2k pirate that appears in a system that houses many other pirates of the same name?

Um.. no, but I always thought the NPCs were the little + signs and the player ships were the little [ ] icons. Maybe thats just on my system though....
I'd forgotten about that

Quote: Aye Calladen but if you get rid of everyone who only believes in "fair play" then to be honest where's the fun? I want to meet devious tricky evil gits. Hell it's the absence/decline of them that is one of the reasons for me not resubbing - which reminds me that I need to talk to m0o to try and get this "Run the m0o gauntlet" event sorted. Damn I forgot all about it
Tricky is having a odule on your ship that your enemy didn't account for.....
Tricky is NOT using the same name as an NPC pirate in order to grief another player.
Regardless of the fact the icons for Pc and NPC are different, the intent is to grief.

Quote: Well Joshua you and I will have to differ here. People call ore thiefs "griefers" but the devs disagree - and always have. The guy with this npc name could quite easily be one of the good guys on his main char, but he creates a throwaway alt to have some evil fun. His intent is to deceive, not to "grief", as it requires the player he's locked on to fire at him first. I have a simple rule that you should all follow - if in Empire space then never ever fire first.
In this instance I don't see how the char could last more than a couple of days - you'd be bored senseless and most people would just laugh at you. When the icons were different - ah now maybe, just maybe that was an exploit. Not now though.
"Serpentis Patroller" has been around for a long time.
It was well over 6 weeks ago when Said Zerrouki suffered the same fate asn the guy mentioned here.

It has already been stated that using the names of NPC characters is not allowed, yes?
